Hi greeting,

I had just installed Mandrake 6.0 from the CD distribution.

However, a few software inside the CD is slightly out-dated than the
latest stuff on the web.

How can I download and install the latest from the web?

(a) What need to be done for setting up dialup Netscape access (to get the
needed file).

Failed to find a HOWTO for simple dialup setting up (although many doc. on
the full setup of pppd). Is there a 'simple' sub-set for 'just web setting'
(instead of the full pppd).

(b) What exactly does the RED HAT RPM fits into the picture? Do I had to
somehow tell RPM (it mentioned a RPM database) so that RPM knows that a
certain software has been added (either a newer version of the software
already on the Mandrake OR a 'new' software that was NOT on the Mnadrake
CD).

No. To get the web, you need to be on the network. That is what pppd does.
