dumb terminal freezes at login

Post by Richard Grisc » Tue, 25 Mar 1997 04:00:00

A dumb terminal connected via a serial port to my Linux box
hangs after I type a username at the login prompt.

The two machines seem to be configured correctly.  I made the
necessary changes to /etc/inittab, and when I rebooted, the
login prompt showed up on the dumb terminal.  As a test, I pressed
Enter several times, and the login prompt recycled without a problem.

When I typed in a username at the login prompt, though, the machine
froze and never prompted me for a password.

Any help would be much appreciated!

1. Connecting dumb VT220 dumb terminals to host over Frame Relay

Hi,

Wondering if there is a way to hook up 10 VT220 serial terminals to a
device on a TCP/IP Ethernet LAN which will then have a route over frame
relay to another Ethernet LAN with the UNIX host server.  We are trying
to come up with a low cost way to provide some training terminals at a
remote location for a host application.  Any ideas are appreciated.

Regards,
Dan
