sanyo CD-ROM driver

: I have recently started installing Slackware 2.3 distribution included
: on a cd-rom with the 3rd edition of the book Linux Bible.  I saw a
: brief mention of a SANYO cd-rom driver under development in the book.
: I have not, however, been able to locate one at the FTP sites I have
: checked.  If anyone knows of the whereabouts of such a driver please
: let me know (so far I am installing Linux piece by piece by copying
: the cd-rom contents to floppies - uggghhhh!!!).
:       Thanks in advance,

Uh, 'scuse me, but why not copy the contents of
/distributions/slackware/slakware to a temporary directory, then during setup
choose the option to install from another partition, i.e. /dev/hda1.
This worked for me while the Teac driver was still in development.
Good luck, and ymmv.

[... stuff deleted ...]

For various reasons, none of them good, I have several "distributions"
of Linux.

The Sanyo 3-CD changer CD-ROM is _supposed_ to look like a normal
ATAPI CD-ROM for the bottom platter.

This is the case for TransAmeritech and Linux Universe (from "The
Complete Linux Kit" by Strobel and Uhl).  However, Slackware itself
(and I assume that Yggdrasil's Fall 95 distribution is mostly
Slackware) doesn't seem to see the drive.

I don't quite understand this, since none of the distributions
I have claim special modifications for the Sanyo.

Cause I have no other partitions which linux can access (everthing I
have is compressed with Stacker 4.0 which I have not been able to get
Linux to recognize.  If there is a way to do that,  that would be
great too - No I can not uncompress, everything is full - yes I know I
need a new drive but I have no spare cash).
