Post by Julien » Sun, 31 Dec 1899 09:00:00

My distribution is a debian2.1
My printer is an epson stylus color 440
My gs is correctly configurated with the stc_h.upp driver.
And I use apsfilter to generate my /etc/printcap and to use a filter
When I try to print the test of the apsfilter setup, my printer is working
correctly.

When i try to print with this command :

I ve the error message :

Error: /invalidfileaccess in --.outputpage--
Operand stack:
   1   true
Execution stack:
%interp_exit   .runexec2   --nostringval--   --nostringval--   --nostringval-
-   2   %stopped_push   --nostringval--   2   3   %oparray_pop   --nostringval-
--nostringval--   false   1   %stopped_push   1   3   %oparray_pop   .runexec
Current allocation mode is local
Last OS error: 16
Current file position is 176702

I dont know anything about this errors messages. If somebody can to explain me
what is the problems.

I try to print with the command : lpr test.ps

I ve this message :

Status Information:

  connecting to 'localhost', attempt 1
cannot open connection to localhost - Connection refused
Make sure LPD server is running on the server

And when i try to print with netscape. Nothing

My /etc/printcap is

lp|epson440|epson stylus :\
:lp=/dev/lp0:sd=/var/spool/lpd/epson440:\
:sh:pw#80:pl#72:px#1440:mx#0:\
:if=/etc/magicfilter/stylus_color_720dpi-filter:\
:af=/var/log/lp-acct:lf=/var/log/lp-errs:

That s all.

1. Some problems setting up Epson Stylus Color 440

Hi there,

I have setting up aFreeBSD system at home (have only used Debian
linux
before). So far, I like it very much, except for the fact that I
can't
seem to get the printer (Epson Stylus Color 440) to fully work.

Printing text using lpr or cat file > /dev/lpt0 works fine,
also, the
simple text filter 'if-simple' from the Handbook works fine.
What I
cannot get to work is the postscript filter (the one from the
Handbook
again, using ghostscript).

The Question is: Does anyone know what DEVICE to use, and what
the exact
content of /etc/printcap and the filter should be for this
particular
printer?

Also, I've had problems with lpd dying, but that is probably due
to my
messing with it ...

Much obliged,

Hans
