'batch' and 'at' don't work

Does anyone know why batch and at jobs never get executed?  Crond is
running, according to ps, but it's like it never checks the crontab or
atspool directories.

Running Slakware 3.3

Two possible reasons, both related to the same issue.  Crond is not
responsible for running 'at' jobs (batch is basically 'at now').  I am not
familiar with Slackware 3.3, but there are two basic mechanisms which Linux
uses for running 'at' jobs.

a) Make a crontab entry (usualy in /etc/crontab) which runs atrun every minute
or so.

b) Start the atd program at boot time.

You need to discover which mechanism Slackware 3.3 normally uses and switch
it on.
