Help: Can't get past Select Prompting question

Post by sparha » Fri, 12 Jan 1996 04:00:00

I'm installing Slackware Linux from my Dos partition but I am stuck at
one part. I'll try to describe the steps I go through once I'm in setup.

-go to Target and choose the partition I want Linux on (/dev/hdb1 because
I'm installing on my second hard drive.
-I choose that I don't want the dos partitions visible from Linux.
-Chose "Install from a different partition" as source.
-I chose /dev/hda1
-directory /slakware because that is where I have Disk Set A copied.
-I chose FAT filesystem.
-Then I choose to install Disk Set A
-Now I go to the Select Prompting menu. I choose Normal, but all it does
is return me back to the same menu. I keep choosing Normal, but the same
thing happens everytime.

Does anyone know what the problem may be? Could it be the CD-ROM? Is
there anything I am doing wrong?

I would really appreciate ANY help anyone can give me.

Ok, here's the question:

I'm reletively new to the Internet and have been using Netscape as my
browser.  I happen to be buying Quaterdeck's QEMM version 7 software
package which is being bundled with their Mosaic browser.  Which is
better?  I asked Quaterdeck directly and not surprisingly they said
theirs was.  Are they right, or are they simply supporting their product?

Any help out there?  What are the pros and cons of each program?

Thanks,

Brian

1. Getting Past Password Prompt in Script

I've trying to write a script that has to enter a password when prompted.

for ...
       do
               dsmc arc $FILE_NAME <<!
               password
               !
        done

The <<! syntax works with my oracle scripts but not in this case. ie.  I'm
trying to force a <CR> <LF> within the script.
Any help would be appreciated.

Rob.
