Hi, I had the same problem when I upgraded kernel sources from
1.2.13 to 2.0.25. You will probably need to upgrade some other
packages that get broken with the new kernel. There is one
important file in the kernel sources:
doc/changes.
It explains exactly what you will probably need to have so that the new
kernel runs correctly. By the way, what I had to replace was the
sysvinit package, containing shutdown, halt, boot and other stuff. BUT,
it was NOT the only thing I had to replace!
