i'm wondering if there's a way to set-up an initialization string to enable MNP data compression as well as any other at command sequence. Where are the initializing strings stored to be read on the Linux sysytem?

My Boca V.34 28.8 modem does not respond under RH4.0 ( works fine under
DOS)
while my old 2400 modem works fine with the same settings ( COM2 - Irq3
- /dev/cua1)
Does anybody knows about Boca modems support under RH4.0?
