I have a TRIGEM -GemMaster 3560, pc. with a Intel Pentium PC54C(S)/133mhz
processor, 32mb Ram, Onboard VGA with 1mb shared DRAM, 16kb internal cache
with 256k external cache, one 1.2G EIDE hard drive, and one toshiba EIDE
CD-ROM, quadspeed drive, built on sound card. I installed Redhat 5.1 from the
CD-ROM disk included with the book "MASTERING LINUX" From sybex publishers. The
install goes fine and completes, my problem is after booting during the
"Finding module dependancies..." phase of boot up the following error occurs:
hda: irq timeout: status 0x58 {DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest}
ide 0 : reset : success
This error repeats and things go very slowly... it take about a whole 24 hrs
before I get the Login Prompt. Then when I type "root" to log in and press
return...I end up waiting a minute or two the same error pops up ...then the
Password Prompt come up I enter the password...and then the error occurs
several more times then the system prompt appears...if I leave the system
prompt up....the error will return and repeat unless a key is pressed...it will
again start if the system if left alone again.
What is happening? and how do I correct it?
Thanks in advance!
