Very Computer

I have purchased a Red Hat box set 4.0 linux package.

The installation completes fine but when the computer reboots, the lilo
boot prompt do not come up correctly. It only writes LI and then the
computer hangs.

My Hardware is a HP vectra XU 6/150 with a 2110 Mega byte SCSI fireball
HD.
The SCSI controller is a adapatec onboard aic7880p. My HD has ID 0.

I choose the 2940 adaptec controller when I installed as they should be
compatible.

I would really appreciate some help.

Did you run '/sbin/lilo -C /etc/lilo.conf'?

Have you read the information at the URL

fails with some SCSI adaptors"?

I don't think it is a SCSI problem because I have EIDE and I am having
the same problems. I have a 486x33 Intel. If you find the problem,
please let me know.

I had the same problem when I installed Slackware for the first time (however,
I have an EIDE drive) so what I had to do to get LILO to work is to switch the
drive mode from LBA to NORMAL and set the boot partition so that it was
entirely in the first 1024 cylinders of the hard drive.
