Hi,
I run RH5.1 and I changed the hostname using the Linuxconf
tool. Then I rebooted to see if the new hostname "took".
It did but now the sendmail daemon severely delays the
bootup.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Peter Koren

1. shutdown->boot->freeze at sendmail
Greetings, all.
I'm having a problem with shutdown method. I installed Red Hat 4.2 and
added/upgraded some stuff (XFree86 3.3.1, Afterstep,etc) from other Linux
distribution. Kernel and lilo packages could not be upgraded to 2.0.31
successfully due to some reason that newbie like me can not tell.
It ran great, and I did "shutdown -h now", turned off my machine, and booted
it again. Then it hung up when starting up daemons. I reinstalled everything 3
times, just to get the same result. It always stops booting at start-up of sendmail.
I wish I could send all messages which come out during boot, but I don't have
the technique. My guess is A.my shutdown method is wrong, B.added/upgraded
packages are conflicting. But I don't know either how to identify my problem,
or how to fix it.
Any inputs would be appreciated. Thanks.
