Subject: SuSe 6.3 install problems
Date: Tuesday, December 21, 1999 3:14 PM
Hello,
I successfully installed the os the other day, but soon came into problems.
First, the os would hang and I would have to restart. Eventually, this
caused problems on boot. Finally, it would no longer boot. BTW, I used
LILO. So, I figured I would just perform a fresh install of the os. I
re-partitioned and formatted the drives(2 seperate) and tried to re-install.
I got past the loading linux and then some kernal text messages. Then I
recieved the error
Kernal panic : VFS insert Root Floppy and press enter.
Problem is that I don't have a root floppy other than the boot disk that
came with the software.
I tried to use a rescue disk by creating it from the CDROM. But this led to
the error
Kernal panic: VFS could not mount root fs on 2:00
Please, any help would be appreciated. I would like to start from scratch if
possible. I was able to get Win 98 installed on the drives. But I would like
to replace it with Linux..
Thanks,
Ray
