PPP setup: 'resolv.conf' in RH 6.0

PPP setup: 'resolv.conf' in RH 6.0

Post by Joe M » Sun, 18 Jul 1999 04:00:00

When using Unruh's PPP How-to with RH 6.0, '/etc/resolv.conf' is to be
edited.  However, the file doesn't exist.  I realize that Unruh's how-to
refers to kernel 2.0; I was wondering if there is a file equivalent
to '/etc/resolv.conf' in RH 6.0 (ie, kernel 2.2).

  Any help is appreciated.

The file does exist in RH 6.0,   in '/etc/resolv.conf', and if it is not
there you just need to create it...

Just use your favorite editor and create one. /etc/resolve.conf

search ispdomain.name
nameserver 207.69.188.187   <--whatever yours is.

PPP setup: 'resolv.conf' in RH 6.0

Joe,

As root, and at a terminal, type "netcfg &".
Select Interface, ADD PPP interface. Enter appropriate info. After you SAVE
it, go to Names tab and enter the DNS. After that save, and then go to
/etc/ using a notepad, anf look for resolve.conf in the directory. Also
look for host.conf which should also be in the /etc directory, and make
sure it says multi bind on.
