You can upgrade it seamlessly. Just get the boot.img and supp.img and boot
the install media, then choose "Upgrade system" instead of "install"... You
can upgrade via FTP with no problems...

I want to upgrade mine too.  Can you be more specific about the steps
that you wrote above?  (I'm very new to Linux)
I have Pacific Hi Tech's RedHat 4.0
e-mail if possible

I performed both the upgrade and fresh install and in both cases lilo would
not recognize my win 95 image. I had to resort to a boot floppy.

RH4.0 -> RH4.1

:
If you check the errata for 4.1 you will see that there is a problem with
lilo.  There is a shellscript you can download to fix it.  The shellscript
didn't work on my system so I just reinstalled the lilo from 4.0.

The lilo configuration file is /etc/lilo.conf.  The prior lilo
configuration file from 4.0 is stored as /etc/lilo.conf.orig.  Backup the
current lilo.conf if you want and copy lilo.conf.orig to lilo.conf.  Then
run lilo by typing lilo or /sbin/lilo at the command prompt.  Next time
you boot lilo should work correctly - assuming it did so under 4.0.

If you want to be safe make sure that you have a working linux boot
floppy before playing with lilo.

Good Luck.

1. PROGRESS REPORT: Re: Minor probs. after upgrade RH4.1 -> RH4.2

Here's a progress report on some RH4.2 upgrade problems I had posted
about, which may or may not be of interest:

No progress as yet.  Presumably this is a RH issue and they will solve
it when they upgrade "glint"?  I didn't find a later version of "glint"
at RH than the one I already have.  Inconvenient but not fatal.

I reset the permissions on the cua* devices as follows:

crw-rw-rw-   1 root     uucp       5,  64 Sep 23 08:44 /dev/cua0
crw-rw-rw-   1 root     uucp       5,  65 Dec 31  1979 /dev/cua1
crw-rw-rw-   1 root     uucp       5,  66 Dec 31  1979 /dev/cua2
crw-rw-rw-   1 root     uucp       5,  67 Dec 31  1979 /dev/cua3

originally these had been crw-rw----.  If this is a security hole, no
flames: 1) please note, I'm on my own box; 2) tell me how to do it
right.

I upgraded to XFree86 Version 3.3.1, no joy.  However, whether you need
this version to do the following, or you can do it with the older
version, XFree86 Version 3.2.9 which comes with RH 4.2, the key is to
insert the switch:

XkbDisable

in the "Keyboard" section of XF86Config.  Got my numeric keyboard cursor
keys back, yeah!!!
