pop3.email.msn.com pop3 protocol

I think I found solution. There are free shell accounts on Internet with
POP3 access.
But what is better on SPA compare to APOP command and MD5 algorithm in
POP3? What RFC is describing SPA (Secure Password Authentication)? Which
other company is using SPA? Is it standard or just Microsoft is using it?

Thanks,

MS is just trying to stamp out the competition by inventing their own
protocols (like MSIE).  In fact they would like to do away with POP3 and
user SMTP sending altogether and force everyone to use webmail where they
can make more money (advertising).  And if your only ISP was MSN, you
might not know that usenet exists (there is no money in it).

Last I heard, the only programs that can use POP3 for MSN (MS SPA) are the
Outlook variations and Agent.

And fetchmail on UNIX/linux, if you compile it in.
