PART 1
I get a "block move error 0x01" when trying to boot from a Slackware 96
bootfloppy that has sbpcd.s rawrite'd onto it. The error message comes after I
press Enter from the prompt and the screen looks like this:
boot:
Loading ramdisk
block move error 0x01
boot: ramdisk
block move error 0x01
boot: ramdisk
[etc...]
The system sits there until I press Enter and then keeps getting the same error.
The hardware is an Intel Pentium-S 75 with Award BIOS 4.5G, PCI motherboard with
onboard IDE. I get the same error when I disable the onboard IDE using the CMOS
setup utility and connect an IDE board in a 16bit ISA slot to the 1.44MB floppy
drive.
PART 2
I disabled the CPU internal cache and got further into the installation. I
selected to install sets "a ap d f k" from my CD, proceeded to install them and
then made a boot disk from the bootkernel floppy. The last step was to reboot
from the new boot floppy by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del. The subsequent screen looks
like this:
Award Software, Inc.

Is the Pentium75 incompatible with Linux?
What other information do you need to diagnose the problem?
Suggestions?
