Very Computer

Hi...

I see that I'm not the only one with this problem! Unfortunately, the solution
was probably sent to the first poster's email, so I can't share in the relief..

I am running Linux 1.2.3 from the Slakware 2.2.0 distribution. I can FTP
into my machine as anonymous and login successfully, but I cannot log in as
myself or any other user (I get:

   530 User fox access denied...
   Login failed.

Help?

Please post your answer here... it seems this is a problem for more than one
of us.

Check your /etc/ftpusers file.  If your username shows up in this
file on a NON-commented line, then that username is not allowed to come
in to the machine via telnet even with a correct password.  People
like root (who could cause damage) are not allowed in normally --
security risk...
