Which kernel for Soundblaster & Sony cdu33a?

I am trying to install the slackware version of Linux using a Creative Labs
Soundblaster multimedia kit on a 486/33 with 8meg RAM.  The multimedia kit
came with a Sony CDU33A 2x CDROM drive.  Setup won't recognize the drive.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

1. SONY CDU33A & SoundBlaster 16

I installed Slackware 1.2.13 with my CDU33A attached to Sound
Blaster 16's interface whose base I/O address is 0x230.  
However on bootup, it doesn't recognize it.
I played with lilo.conf, tried append="cdu31a=0x230,0"...., but
I just cannot get it to work.
