HELP! Linux Raid 5 Config ?

Post by Micha » Sat, 19 Sep 1998 04:00:00

Question. What RAID controller are you useing?.. DPT , BusLogic,
Adaptec,  Ultrastor ect... PCI, EISA, ISA ?
I'm not a programer but I do put  together  RAID systems. With more
info I might be able to direct to a site that may help.

By this I take it you mean you edited whatever/raid5.conf.sample and saved
it as /etc/raid5.conf ?

... and because /dev/mdadd doesn't exist! I think you mean:
   # mdadd /dev/md0 /dev/sda1 /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdc1
... or hell, just use ``mdcreate /etc/raid5.conf'' and then
you'll have entries in /etc/mdtab so you can issue the command:
   # mdadd -a
... and it'll just add all the appropriate devices (in the
appropriate order) to the appropriate md devices.

You seem to need to either run ``mkraid /etc/raid5.conf'' or ``mdadd -a''
before issuing this command.

I've got a step-by-step RAID-5 config page, but the server is down, so
if you're in great need I'll gladly just email it to you (in HTML,
sorry).

supported?  How do I set them up?  Where is the RAID documentation?

Where's the secret cache of all this info?
