pppd Problems connecting two Linux servers via Modem

Post by Martin Bamme » Sat, 26 Apr 2003 05:13:38

Hi,
I want to connect 2 Linux servers running Debian Sid. Each serves
several LANs. One server has a connection to the internet via 1 LAN.
It should be possible that server 1 calls server 2 and vice versa.
Each server should only answer calls from it's opponent.
The status is that calling works, but LPC-requests fail.
What is wrong with the configuration?? Please help.

Here an output of the logfile:

It looks to me like you are not running pppd on the remote machine. You
log in ( why do you log in ratehr than using AutoPPP in the mgetty
program (/etc/mgetty*/login.config) and then probably do not start up
pppd on the machine you logged in on. Since we have no idea how you have
configured the machine you callin on, further help is not possible.

1. connecting two with X-server via modem (Linux X <-modem-> Sun X)

Hi,
        I am running X on a stand-alone PC/Linux (say machine A).
I dial in via a modem and
then connect to a switch to log into a sparc machine, say machine B.
Now I would like to run a X-application on machine B and would like it
to be displayed on machine A!

Any hints?
Thanks in advance.
