I'm have created a boot disk and when i load the computer with it, all I
see
is a blank screen.

Is the boot disk actually booting the computer?  Make sure you copy the boot
image with a command like:

dd if=<image> of=/dev/fd0 bs=8192

If this isn't done right your computer won't recagnize the disk as a boot
disk and it may stay blank or give the message, Non System Disk, blah, blah.
