PGP - Anyone w/ success compiiling? Suggestions?

Post by Tyson Bigle » Sun, 21 Jul 1996 04:00:00

I've always used the M$-DOG version of PGP because there were a couple
of apps that were keeping me chained to winblows...  now that I've got
Wingz and have learned some TeX I'm ready to completely blow away
winsucks!!!  ;-D  So, now I need to compile PGP for use with Linux.

I am running kernel 1.2.13 (elf) ((Slackware 3.0))...  don't know what
other information you would need...  When I tried to compile last weekend
it bombed on me (I *was*, however, able to compile rsaref).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Tyson

This is a known problem with compiling pgp under elf systems, and it's
easy to fix:

edit src/makefile and change the linux part from

linux:
        $(MAKE) all CC=gcc LD=gcc OBJS_EXT="_80386.o _zmatch.o" \
        CFLAGS="$(RSAINCDIR) -O6 -g3 -DUNIX -DIDEA32 -DASM"

to

linux:
        $(MAKE) all CC=gcc LD=gcc OBJS_EXT="_80386.o _zmatch.o" \
        CFLAGS="$(RSAINCDIR) -O6 -g3 -DUNIX -DIDEA32 -DASM" \
        ASMDEF=-DSYSV

and recompile

1. Any success with pgp on netbsd-amiga?

I've got the pgp2.6 distribution, and am trying to get it to work properly.
The 'netbsd' target is obviously intended for x86 systems only (argh), so I
used the sun3gcc target, with no asm code.  I can generate a key, but when
I try using the key I generated, it doesn't like my pass phrase.  I've
tried this both with the key I generated under NetBSD, and also my (in-use)
key which I generated under SunOS4.1.3.

I'd REALLY like to be able to use PGP on my NetBSD system.  Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
