Kernel Upgrade from 1.1.59 to 1.2.13 problems

Post by Merlyn/Dargmoth/Mer-Gan » Wed, 27 Mar 1996 04:00:00

I'm currently running Linux 1.1.59 and have been trying to
upgrade it to 1.2.13.  I've gotten it to compile and run
properly (after renabling the Sony CDU 31a auto-detect).

The problem I have is that now I get read errors and
sometimes the system hangs due to it waiting for a response
from the CD-ROM drive.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Please keep in mind that I have a dual boot system and the
CD-ROM must still function correctly in MS-DOS and MS-Windows.

Thanks in advance.

1. Kernel upgrade from 1.1.59 -> 1.1.73 Kills NFS

Hullo, I have installed slackware 2.10 and recently tried upgrading
the 1.1.59 kernel to 1.1.73 but alas, the nfs (networking perhaps)
died in the translation.  I get "server timeouts" but no messages in
/usr/adm...

Is there a debugging flag I should set?

Has anyone else seen this problem with the 1.1.7* kernels?
