Netscape Java Problem

Netscape Java Problem

Post by Patrick Drew McDanie » Tue, 14 Jan 1997 04:00:00

I am having problems running the Netscape 3.1 release on
Linux 2.0.18.  Every time I hit a page with a Java application
I get a "bus error" and Netscape crashes.  Anybody have an
idea on how to fix this?

Thanks,
Patrick McDaniel

Mr McDaniel:

I have experienced the same problem.  If I run X in 16bpp, netscape
dies when it encounters a java applet.  It works fine if I run at 8bpp.
If your running X in high colour try 8bpp instead.  This is a known bug
in java.

1. Netscape Java Problems.

My Netscape crashes whenever I look at any Jova page, in any color mode.
I know that other people had the same problem, was a solution ever
found?

I'm running a Micron Millenia P100, Slackware release 3.0.

Thanks.
