Slackware 3.0.0 won't recognize SCSI CD-ROM

Slackware 3.0.0 won't recognize SCSI CD-ROM

Hi there...my first time with Linux, so...

I'm trying to get my CD-ROM drive seen by the Linux kernel. I tried using both
the 'scsi' and the 'ascsi' boot disks to no avail.  Both times I got something
to the effect of:

Qlogic: <--- and then a bunch of IRQ/address stuff
scsi: 1 host
scsi: detected

I assume the last line means there were no devices detected on the SCSI bus.
Anyways, I did an install off the HD to get Linux going, however even with the
SCSI kernel it won't recognize the drive. The drive is fine under DOS, and
I've checked all the cables and termination. And before I forget, the adapter
is a QLogic Fast!SCSI PCI Basic and the drive is an external NEC 4Xe.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Jason

1. Slackware 2.3 won't recognize SCSI CD-ROM

I'm trying to install Slackware 2.3 off of CD.  I have a Texel 3024 SCSI
CD-ROM connected to a Sound Blaster 16 SCSI-II.  My system is already set up
for OS/2, and I am trying to add a Linux installation.  Using the SCSI boot
disk, 0 SCSI hosts are detected on boot up.  Interestingly, I am also unable
to install off of a HPFS partition on my hard disk - I get an error message
that setup can't mount the drive.  Any ideas?
