Problem configuring mouse on RedHat 4.2

I've got a logitech trackman mouse, which plugs into the keyboard (not
COM1) port on my machine.  It appears that both the keyboard and mouse
are supposed to share the same port on the motherboard.  Upon further
inspection of the hardware, I note that COM1 is set up to be a printer
port.

My question:  Is there any way for me to tell linux how it can find the
mouse as it is?  And if not, is there anything simple that I can do to
the hardware to make it possible?

Thanks
