I TRIED to upgrade from RH 5.2 to RH 6.1. But it claims I don't have
enough space in /usr. I tried for an hour deleting packages but
couldn't get below 6M still needed. I looked at /usr and it is 1GB,
same size as my new drives where I installed RH6.1 with no
problems. WHY does it say I don't have enough space? Is it trying to
find enough space without touching the old install? Any easy way
around this? I'm tempted to use brute force and back all my drive up
to tape, and do a new install destructively repartitioning it. Then
back up all the partitions from tape back to the new 6.1 disk. There
must be a better way but going through the custom packages and
deleting them 1 by 1 is not only a PITA which takes lots of time but
didn't work. *sigh*
Thanks!
PS yes I have a fresh backup. Made it right before attempting the
upgrade.
