There may be problems if the modem is left in the PnP mode (No
jumpers).  Just hard set it to an appropriate port and IRQ and you
shouldn't have any trouble.

Yes, as long as it isn't Winmodem or PnP. On mine it can be jumpered for
PnP or for COM1, 2, 3 or 4, so just make sure you select a port and not
PnP.
