I am trying to set up an anonymous ftp on our server.
What do I need to set it up?
I suppose that I need, ls-lR, but where do I find it.

Do you mean you have an ftp daemon running, but need to configure
anonymous access for it, or do you mean you need to install an
ftp daemon _and then_ configure anonymous access?  I'm unclear on
what exactly you're inquiring about.

If the latter, get wu-ftpd-2.4.2-beta-15.tar.Z from

Not sure what you mean by "needing ls-lR".  ftp servers often contain
a text file by that name to serve as an index of all ftp-able directories
at and below that point.  It is so named because it's generated by
running "ls -lR"[1] and redirecting the output to the aforementioned
filename.  This would generally be regenerated periodically via
a cron task.

Additionally, your ftp daemon, when you set it up, will place a copy
of the "ls" (staticly-linked binary) in a "bin" directory, typically
your /home/ftp/bin/ directory.  Is that what you're asking about?
If so, it should be placed there automatically when you set up your
ftp daemon.

[1] The "l" specifies long format.  The "R" recurses through subdirectories.
