I am setting this up on my laptop (while waiting for Matrox Mystique
drivers for my desktop)... problem is I can't get started with the
install...
The steps I have been through are as follows
I made the bootdisk using bare.i
It makes it through this disk without error, correctly
identifying all my hardware
I used both the color and text versions of the root disk
This is where the problem comes in... with either I
get the following messages
RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0
JAVA Binary support v1.01 for Linux 1.3.98 ..... etc
VFS: Mounted root (minix filesystem)
INIT: version 2.60 booting
This is where the problem occurs as soon as it hits that last
message it stops.... and never does anything else
What could be the problem ????
My hardware is as follows :
Cyrix 486 slc 25 with a math co added on the board
8 megs ram
Toshiba 701 meg HD ( this I suspect as the problem )
as I had to use Disk Manager to be able to use
the whole drive... any way around that ???
serial mouse
vga (paper white) 800x600 display
3.5" floppy
no sound
no pc card slots
2 serial
1 parallel
Any responses would be appreciated as I would really like to get this
machine going with this new version of Linux... I have no arguments
about repartitioning or formatting the drive in any way...
Thanks
