et4000/w32p problems...

Post by Anders Borna » Sat, 12 Oct 1996 04:00:00

Hi!
I recently installed slackware 3.1.2 with 2.0.0 kernel.
I used to have the 3.0 distribution with 1.2.13 kernel, but since I
upgraded(?) I can't get X started.
I tried to download and install my old x-package, but I seams to lack my
old libraries.
Is there any known bugs in 3.1.2 regarding the Tseng Labs ET4000/W32p?
I don't want to reinstall everuthing again...
:-(

You need the beta version, 3.1.2G is current. The "standard" 3.1.2
doesn't work, at least not with my W32p (which may have something to
do with the DAC and / or clock).

I still have a problem that when entering one of the higher resolutions
that have "pixel multiplexing", sometimes the pixels are in the wrong
order... Switching with ctrl-alt-+ and - a couple of times fixes this.
I've reported this a couple of times using the beta report form, but
it hasn't been fixed, and I've never had *any* feedback. This sort of
discourages one from sending any more beta reports ;-(

Crossposted to comp.os.linux.x; followups directed there.

1. ET4000/W32p problem again ...

Is the ET4000/W32p card really supported?

Since the XF86_W32 does not work for me at all, I use the XF86_SVGA
server. Now, I noticed another problem ... the screen saver is WHITE
instead of BLACK, I think I should really call that a screen killer
    instead, right?

My config ... ASUS P54SP4 motherboard
                  P5 75Mhz with 32M ram
                  ViewTop PCI ET4000/W32p display card
                  Sony Multiscan 15sf monitor

Which ET4000/W32p display card does XFree86 3.1.1 supports best?

    Help me out, please.
