1. Any Linux user friendly installation version?

Hello everybody. I've been trying to install Caldera Linux-Lite into a
Thinkpad
with such much pain that I finally gave up.
Now I need to get Linux running and am looking for some "User Friendly"
(or at least closer to that) version. I've seen that each distribution
like RedHat, Slackware, Caldera, etc has different features.
Which one would allow me to complete my installation before frustration.

Thanks in advance for any help.
