Propietry Creative 2x CDROM problems

Post by Peter Robins » Wed, 16 Jul 1997 04:00:00

Hello everyone,

I'm yet another newbie to Linux
I have a propietry creative lavs 2 speed CDROM. When I installed Linux
(Redhat 4.1 with kernel 2.0.27) the CDROM was detected and worked fine
but now that I have it up and running it won't mount the CD drive --
the boot up bit (what ever its called) doesn't come up with anything
about the CD drive.
In the /dev directory it has the sbpcd device which from all the FAQs
etc that I have read tell me is the right device but I can't mount it.
I have tried al sorts of different alternatives but can't seem to get
it to work.

Any help woul be greatly appreciated.

1. HELP! Funai 2X CDROM & Creative adapter.

I bought a two-speed Cdrom that isn't really an IDE drive, it uses its
own ISA-card. The manufacturer of the drive is FUNAI, and the
interface-card is made by Creative Labs.
I cant get it to work on my box and it's getting pretty annoying to boot
up DOS every time I need the drive ;)
Umm, I HAVE read the FAQ's and HOWTO's 8)
Could someone PLEASE help me?
