Anyone know where I can get hold of a libc.so.4 this time of year?
Is it on any of the distribution disks?

1. glib and some other library quest
hello;
i wanted to install this russian program for downloading under x (x
dow
nload) and when tried to compile, i got reply that i need glib, so i
downloaded, installed and tried again. the compiling procces was
completely
unaware of my efforts! also, i noticed that report that ESD libraries
are needed. It looks like this;
checking for GLIB - version >= 1.2.10... no
*** The glib-config script installed by GLIB could not be found
*** If GLIB was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in
*** your path, or set the GLIB_CONFIG environment variable to the
*** full path to glib-config.
configure: error: *** GLIB >= 1.2.10 not installed! ***
and same gen.text for ESD.
but i couldnt find file named glib-config enywhere. the nearest match
was at the location&name;
file:/usr/local/lib/glib-2.0/include/glibconfig.h
and the reply i get when i use that as a PREFIX looks like;
/var/fools-horses/bin/glib-config: X-KDE-SubstituteUID=false: command
not found
/var/fools-horses/bin/glib-config: X-KDE-Username=: command not found
/var/fools-horses/bin/glib-config: [Desktop: command not found
/var/fools-horses/bin/glib-config: X-KDE-SubstituteUID=false: command
not found
/var/fools-horses/bin/glib-config: X-KDE-Username=: command not found
/var/fools-horses/bin/glib-config: [Desktop: command not found
/var/fools-horses/bin/glib-config: X-KDE-SubstituteUID=false: command
not found
/var/fools-horses/bin/glib-config: X-KDE-Username=: command not found
/var/fools-horses/bin/glib-config: [Desktop: command not found
/var/fools-horses/bin/glib-config: X-KDE-SubstituteUID=false: command
not found
/var/fools-horses/bin/glib-config: X-KDE-Username=: command not found
/var/fools-horses/bin/glib-config: [Desktop: command not found
/var/fools-horses/bin/glib-config: X-KDE-SubstituteUID=false: command
not found
/var/fools-horses/bin/glib-config: X-KDE-Username=: command not found
no
*** Could not run GLIB test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file
config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GLIB was incorrectly
installed
*** or that you have moved GLIB since it was installed. In the latter
case, you
*** may want to edit the glib-config script:
/var/fools-horses/bin/glib-config
configure: error: *** GLIB >= 1.2.10 not installed! ***
so i think i am appareantly not pointing to the right file. Other
soulution
i suppose would be changing enviromental variables and paths in them,
but
im not sure where should i look for those values. I suppose i mated
old ladies with
frogs in those commands and scripts...i should add that im for now
just using SuSE with 2.4.10-4GB kernel. Im not sure about those 4GB
but that is the description...
thanks for reading all of this :)
