How to duplicate installs?

How to duplicate installs?

Post by Dave Toppe » Fri, 29 May 1998 04:00:00

Hello,

I just installed Slackware 3.4 on a lab machine.  I'd like to do the
identical install on 3 others.  I know there must be a way to do this
(eg., tagfiles or something).  But where do I find that information?

Thanks,

1. Duplicating Install Diskette?

When I first tried to install Linux (newbie here) I set up my PC bios
to boot from CD and tried to do the install from CD.  I got a boot
failure message like this:

Loading initrd.img................Boot failed

I tried the floppy that came in the box next and it worked fine.  My
assumption at this point is that the floppy has some newer version of
something that allows it to work on my PC that's not on or up to date
on the CD.

So the floppy seems pretty important to me right now.  Therefore I'd
like to duplicate it and use the copy as I practice installing Linux
in various ways.  How do I do it?  Can I duplicate it the regular way
using Windows 98?  I'd prefer to use Linux to do it but don't have a
clue on how.
