If you're trying to burn a Debian CD, there are big honking huge .raw
image files available from various ftp sites. If you've the bandwidth
and/or patience, you can get this and burn it with most Windows software.
You'll probably need to re-name it to have an .iso extension, then use
your software's "burn from image file" option, whatever it happens to be
called. (Some software can't do this, but most can.)
If you want to burn a Red Hat CD, I've a web site on how to do this. It's
at http://www.users.fast.net/~rodsmith/rhjol.html. There may also be Red
Hat images similar to the Debian ones on some sites, but if so I don't
know where.
I don't know the details for other distributions. In many cases there's
a file called README.distributors or README.cd-creation or some such
somewhere near the top level of the distribution's hierarchy on ftp
sites. Get that file and read it.

1. Making an ISO Image with Rockridge Extensions
I recently downloaded the latest RedHat Linux 5.2. I have a cd-r and
I was wondering if I could put all the packages on a cd. I need it to
be bootable in Linux, so that I can run the setup program without
having to use a supplemental disk. I know there is a DOS program that
can take DOS (or Windows) files, and make it into an ISO image with
Rockridge extensions that I can then burn in Win98 but will be
readable in linux. Has anyone know of this program or a similar
program? I believe it was a port from linux.
