3com 509 problem !!

Post by AndrĂ© Dohert » Thu, 23 Apr 1998 04:00:00

i am in big trouble. I cant get my 3com 509 card to work.
I have a linux 2.0.33 running on an old 486DX2/66.
Here is what happens : (i use loadlin to boot linux)
1. The kernel start to boot correctly but at some time it goes saying:
eth0: Too much work in interrupt, status 2011
the card is configured IRQ10 et IO 220h

2. The kernel start to boot coorectly but it freezes after (apparently)
when starting inetd. Obvioulsy it looks like an interrupt conflict, but
it
isn't !! I have a Buslogic Scsi adapter set on IRQ 11. The netcard is
set on IRQ 10 and adr 300h

What the hell is going on ? The card works perfectly under DOS under
PcTcp and with the same values.
It could be a conflict with the video card too. That card is a Diamond
Stealth 24 VLB with 1Mb. (And then an adress conflict) especially in
case 2.
But what about case 1 ???

Or could it be a matter of not fast enough computer ?
If you have experienced such a problem, please let me know how you
solved
that ! Any help will be *really* appreciated !!

Get the latest version (URL is in the driver source, umm 3c509x.c or
something like that), and get bonus *real* 10Mb/sec each way when
talking to another Linux box.

3com 509 problem !!

try this:

rmmod 3c509
insmod 3c509 io=0x220 irq=10   (or is it 0x10?)

That's how I got my 3C509 working originally, then I think I added it to
/etc/conf.modules or something...

1. 3com 509 problem !!

i am in big trouble. I cant get my 3com 509 card to work.
I have a linux 2.0.33 running on an old 486DX2/66.
Here is what happens : (i use loadlin to boot linux)
The kernel start to boot coorectly but it freezes after (apparently)
starting inetd. Obvioulsy it looks like an interrupt conflict, but it
isn't !! I have a Buslogic Scsi adapter set on IRQ 11. The netcard is
set on IRQ 10 and adr 300h (i have also tried some different values)
What the hell is going on ? The card works perfectly under DOS under
PcTcp and with the same values.
It could be a conflict with the video card too. That card is a Diamond
Stealth 24 VLB with 1Mb. (And then an adress conflict)
Or could it be a matter of not fast enough computer ?
If you have experienced such a problem, please let me know how you solved
that ! Any help will be *really* appreciated !!
