I am installing onto a Hewitt Packard Pavilion. I have Windows 98 on
the system also. I did a DOS FDISK to partition my disk. I reinstalled
Win98. I started to install Linux (I have a CD Rom that came with a
book)When I tried to install from the CD under DOS I got an error
message that said it could not find the image file (according to the
book this was not supposed to happen). I went back to Win98 and used
RAWRITE to make a boot floppy. I booted from the floppy, no problem. It
accessed the CDROM and started the installation program. I used DISC
DRUID to set up the partitions. PROBLEM #1 I could not create a primary
Linux partition over 1500 megs (or so I tried for 2000 -no go , then
tried 1950 -no go, then dropped to 1500 and it allowed that)I got a
message saying the partition was too large. PROBLEM #2 After I got both
partitions set up I began to install Linux. I got a message saying I
did not have enough room for the install (which should not have
happened, according to the last screen I had plenty of room). I clicked
install anyway, which it did. PROBLEM #3 Got a - could not configure
mouse error and could not get any further than that. I have retried the
complete install a couple of times with the same results.
