Help -- Linux box can send mail out, but cannot receive mail

Post by Chang Tsan-Yua » Thu, 19 Oct 1995 04:00:00

email is bounced back and has the error message:

----- The following addresses had delivery problems -----

553 iis.tech.com config error: mail loops back to myself

What would be wrong for the iis.tech.com configuration?

Thanks for help in advance.

1. Able to send mail but cannot receive mail

I am connecting to a SLIP account which dynamically allocates the IP address.
Once connected, I am able to send mail from the Linux machine.  However when
people from outside try to send mail to the linux machine, the mail is bounced
back with a message like:

config error: mail loops back to myself
Local configuration error

Do I need to change /etc/hosts?  What files do I need to modify?

Thanks
Ravi
