SBLive! - Red Hat 6.2 - Kernel-2.2.16-3 - No Sounds

Well guys, I really appreciate all the responses and suggestions. I'm
hoping that someone out there knows some obscure fix for this dilemma.
I have tried Alsa drivers, OSS drivers and updating the SB drivers. NO
errors, No conflicts, and No sounds, still. If anyone out there thinks
they might have something that has been overlooked, bring it on!

When you install the OSS drivers, they report finding a SBlive card?  What
about irq issues?  One thing that happened to me when I installed my SBlive
card was that I physically installed it in a pci slot that the system wanted
to share with my network card.  Not a good thing since the network card
claimed the irq first and was not in a charitable mood.  At this level, OSS
would find the card, but no sounds came forth.  I tried excluding,
including, and about everything else; but the pci bus really wanted to share
the irq between the two slots.  I physically moved the SBlive card to the
next open pci slot and... voila.  Sound with the commercial OSS drivers.
I am not overly patient with things like sound and like immediate
gratification :)  I tried the ALSA stuff and decided that for me OSS
commercial worked quite well.

You may want to check whether your system is actually attempting to share an
irq with a device that takes the irq earlier on.

I do have a Brooktree Tuner card that is sharing the same IRQ, but I
saw no error messages. I have tried removing the card once, but it
didn't seem to make a difference. Although, I was not using the latest
OSS drivers, just the ones that came standard? Thanks - Chris

1. boot after kernel-2.2.16-3 update problem

Hello,

I have encountered a weird problem when I try to reboot my
AlphaStation 200 4/233 after upgrading to the 2.2.16-3 kernel on my RH
system. When I boot the system, aboot gives me the error:

        boot/vmlinuz-2.2.14-6.0: file not found
        Enter kernel name and arguments

Fortunately, I can make it boot simply by responding with:

        boot/vmlinuz-2.2.16-3

And it boots just fine and everything seems to work just fine. I
installed all the kernel rpms, and rpm-qa | grep kernel responds with:

        kernel-BOOT-2.2.16-3
        kernel-utils-2.2.16-3
        kernel-headers-2.2.16-3
        kernel-2.2.16-3
        kernel-doc-2.2.16-3
        kernel-source-2.2.16-3

So it looks like everything is there, and I didn't get any complaints
when I installed the updates with rpm -U ...

Can anyone tell me what I need to fix and how to do it?

Thanks,
Tad
