Hi -
  I know this is a 'less-than-optimal' solution so , sorry about that: I had
ps/2 mouse problems forever with linux and happened to have a batch of ps/2
logitech mouseman 3's at work which are much like any 3 button mouse in
appearance but have a 4th for scrolling. It must be a more responseive mouse
to the linux protocol because it works very well and I've been using it
non-stop in linux for about 5 days now without a glitch. I think they're
costing about 39 bucks in the stores which is a lot for a mouse these days
and , i admit.. a lousy solution but it beats a stuck cursor.
