I can't get Xwindows to work, HELP!!!

I can't get Xwindows to start up, when i type startx it gives me garbage
about not being able to find the config file. Please Help.

   To set up your config file you will have to run xf86config.  Wile
   running that you will be prompted about your system --- be careful
   with your monitor settings and your video card settings they can
   really*you up (thats where I am now).   & don't forget to read
   the monitor spec manuals --- don't want to fry our monitors now do we :)

You need to run at configure program to set up Xwindows to use
the right screen, videocard, mouse and so on. I think you should
type the command : xf86config.

You can also du it the hard way, and edit the file /etc/XF86Config -
but the other way is much more easy...

Morgan,

Make sure you have a XF86Config file on the /etc directory (assuming you are
using XFree86 3.1.1 or later). Also, read the README.Config X doc (on
/usr/X*/doc) and the XF86Config man page.
