I had a similar problem .. I believe you need to recompile the Kernel.
Check and see if you have a README file in the /usr/src/linux directory.
Follow the instructions in the README file. If there are no files in
the /usr/src/linux directory, then you need to re-install and make sure
you have installed the Linux 1.2.3 kernel.
