by Hi, I just bought and built a Dual Pentium 2 x 266mhz, 64megs of sdram,
6.4 gig hdd(udma33), 32x cdrom(atapi), generic combo pci lancard, AGP
Video card, with built in usb, EIDE and WideSCSI and UltraWideSCSI, ohh
and a motorola56k isa pnp modem.
i want to install linux and use it as a firewall/proxy server for my
network (3 other machines 1 Win95 Laptop, 1 Win95 workstation /
*server, and 1 win98 workstation/print server.I am thinking of
going with either RED HAT 5.1 or Debian. Can anyone help me with. I have
tried to install Slackware and older versions of RedHat before on
another system, but I could never get my network card, X Windows, or my
modem so I gave up, but now that I am running a dual system its the only
logical choice and Linux's best competitor sucks (NT4). So any an all
help appreciated, I would perfer replies via e-mail because I cannot
check the newsgroups often, but I will check them as often as possible.
I live in the San fransisco bay area and if you live in the area and
