PPP operation

PPP operation

Post by Joe Bl » Tue, 07 Jul 1998 04:00:00

I have my mdem installed on RH 5.0 system and can dial out with
minicom.  I go thru the username and password and then get a line of
hyroglifics and then no carrier.

I can also dial with ppp-on, get a modem squall and then nothing.

I have edited the ppp-on, ppp-on-dialer and resolv.conf.  They seem ok

I have also checked the ppp installation and it seems OK.

1.)  How can I check the PPP installation and make sure it's valid

2.) What else can I do>

3.)  Thanks for any help

Hi,

I am running RedHat 7.0, and recompiled the kernel for PPP support,
but am now still running into trouble when trying the PPP connection.

And FYI: I log in as root, since no other user has yet been created
(it's a fresh install). And there is only 1 pppd present in the whole
filesystem and it has -rwxr-xr-x root root as authorization params

All help is welcome!
