[Apologies if this appears as a duplicate...I posted this morning, but
it does not appear to have gotten through]
Pardon the newbie question, none of the numerous FAQs I've found address
this.
I'm interested in setting up a Unix environment on my mac (68040). No
mission critical needs here--just want something to expand my
familiarity of Unix, experiment with, and do a little learning in the
process. (Yes, I am prepared to make a substantial 'head-scratching'
investment in the process).
The two 'flavors' TTBOMK that will run on my machines are Mac Linux
(www.mac.linux-m68k.org) and NetBSD (www.netbsd.org). Are the two
essentially similiar, or substantailly different. Is one perferable
that the other.
Linux seems to get more mention these days. NetBSD has the advantage of
a commercial distribution on CD-ROM (via infomagic. All the Linux
distribs. I've found are Intel x86/PowerPC only).
Are binaries for one usable by the other.
Any info, or pointers to info, would be extremely helpful.
