HELP!!! Trying to print a postscript file on my inkjet!!

Hi Fellow Linux Users...

I'm trying to use gs (ghostscript) in Linux to format a postscript
file and print it on an inkjet.  So far I haven't had alot of luck
with this.  I'm using the version of gs that comes with slackware version #2
and I've tried the following commands...

gs -sDEVICE=djet500 -sOutputFile=\|lpr <filename>.ps

gs -sDEVICE=cdj550 -sOutputFile=\|lpr <filename>.ps

neither one of these attempts yielded anything but garbled characters and
alot of wasted inkjet paper.  Anyhow, does anyone know how to set this up?
BTW, I own (and am using here) an HP 550C inkjet printer.

Thanks for the help....

1. Help!! Trying to print postscript on inkjet..

Hi Fellow Linux Users,

I got a question.  I just recently upgraded my Linux version/switched
distributions and have a couple problems now.  First, I'm trying to
setup my printcap file to have a "postscript" printer which is really
my inkjet with the input pre-filtered thru ghostview.  I remember doing
this in my previous setup but I forgot exactly what I did (someone else
suggested this trick).  Basically though, I defined a printer under my
printcap that actually had a single line filter thru ghostview before it
sent the output to the inkjet.  It was a cool trick but I forgot the
format of the command :-{  Has anyone else done this?  Also, I vaguely
remember having a problem where it complained when the postscript file was
too big, I think I fixed this with "mx=0" or something, but I forgot
that as well.  Anyhow, has anyone else done this?

OK, now my second question.  I'm re-installing olvwm but now I
can't find a file called something like "owlplaces" and get this
error when I try to SAVE_WORKSPACE that says it can't find this file.
I'm pretty sure my previous distribution had it, but have no idea
where to find it now :-{

Anyhow, thanks for any help in advance.
