Each of the distribution types (4.0 betas, 3.x, gold, etc) has a unix
directory at ftp.redhat.com.  In there you will find a distribution that
refers to 'unsupported' and 'linux' in its name.  Any of those will
work.  Once you download it, check out
http://members.ping.at/theofilu/ninst.html for installation help.

Hard to tell, never been able to get it to work myself.  I've always
blamed it on sound support (wether that's right or not is another story,
but it satisfies me, for now).

There was a thread here in the last couple of days (and it keeps
reappearing periodically) about path settings.  Basically, make sure you
have eXecute permission on the file.  Then, to execute a script called
runthis, type './runthis' without the quotes, of course.

slrn comes with RH 4.0, I'm sure it must be in most of their
distributions.  It's pretty nice, not for X, but I like it.  Just make
sure the environment variable NNTPSERVER is set to your server.

You're welcome.  Hope this helps.

1. Fat 32 Support--Redhat question

After installing Red Hat 5.0 and
building a kernel with the fat 32
patch applied I have run into difficulties.   I rebooted the
system several times and things
seemed fine.  I could mount the
win95 partition without trouble.
But after editing the fstab file to mount the fat 32 partition at boot
time, the filesystem seems
broken.  On booting with lilo,
both the new and old kernel
cannot  mount the root filesystem.  Further, a rescue disk can't mount
the /dev/hda5 (root partition) either.
So something is serious broken.

1) Does anyone know what happened?

2) Other than reinstalling Red Hat
5.0, which is no big deal, are there
any work arounds?

Thanks, Jon
