Use strip(1).  In future, link using the -s flag, which has the same effect.

Btw, bash 1.14.5 has been released.

1. HELP: Compiling bash 1.14.4

-->Hi Everybody
-->
-->
-->I am using bash-1.14.2 and, I have just downloaded bash-1.14.4.tar.gz,
-->because I need it to install Hylafax correctly. After having unpacked it, I
-->did a 'make', which made the binaries. The problem is that the new *bash is
-->1.2M compared to the old *bash 0.22M. Why is the new bash so big and is there
-->a way to make it smaller?
-->
-->Just to see if I did something wrong I tried to compile bash-1.14.2 and once
-->more got a *bash of 1.2M. But the binaries from Sunsite are only about 0.22M.
-->How did they make it so small?

Question #13 of the GCC-FAQ on ftp.mrc-apu.cam.ac.uk /pub/linux or the URL
ftp://ftp.mrc-apu.cam.ac.uk/pub/linux/GCC-FAQ.html

-->BTW the 'make' incorrectly detects my computer as a i386 and not as a 486. Is
-->there any way to correct this ?

That of no consequence.

Mitch
