Hi all the Linux Gurus,
I'm trying to install
Red Hat "Official" 3.0.3(Picaso).
from CD-ROM; on my 486 DX2-66, 16Mb RAM,
AMI Bios EIDE,1x2.0Gig Maxtor, 1x1.27Gig
Connor's, ATIMach64. SB32AWE Wave.Sony
CD-ROM.
Installation is on a liberated by FIPS
DOS partition. I was able to installed
another CD distribution on another "clean"
(no DOS or Windoz) machine a few months ago
without any problem. But this time, DOS and
Windoz got to stay; and I no longer have
the other CD set!
Everything is fine until installation of
packages.
If I use the graphical installation,
it hangs on <clock>, when it ask me
if my machine is set up with local time
or GMT; but WILL install all packages
without any problem.
BUT if I use text based installation.
I got the msg "Package Installation Failed:
Package Instalation of XFree386-3.1.2-4.i386.rpm
failed with error. Unpacking of archive
failed."
What's the remedy!!???
Please help! :(
Please reply by e-mail if possible.
My ISP's news server is slooooow!!!
Thanks a million.
Alex Lam.
